Calgary region housing starts balloon in February
Housing starts in the Calgary census metropolitan area ballooned in February to a level almost double last year’s activity, says Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.
The agency said total housing starts in the region reached 1,345 units during the month, up from 627 in February 2011.
After two months of activity, total housing starts in the Calgary CMA were 2,131 units, an increase from 1,145 units in 2011.
