The number of vacant dwelling units in Ward 5 is 1,074 in 2011. The overall vacancy rate in Ward 5 is 4.19%. A vacant dwelling is defined as a dwelling that is suitable and available for occupancy and does not include those dwellings under construction or renovation. 7 were under construction at time of study.
There are now 24,940 occupied dwellings. Of this number, 16,841 or 68% are owner-occupied.*

INCOME
Based on the 2006 Canadian Census, the Median Household Income (before Tax) in 2005 for Ward 5 was $62,984.
AGE AND GENDER
As per Census Policy, age and gender data was collected in 2011. The total number of males (39,215) slightly exceeds the number of females (38,433). In the breakdown of age groups, the largest age groups are 35-44 (12,164) and 25-34 (11,868). It is also interesting to note the number of children aged 5-14 (10,459).
EDUCATION
Based on the 2006 Canadian Census, the Ward 5 Population Aged 15 and Over by Highest Certificate, Diploma or Degree in 2006 was:

Based on the 2006 Canadian Census, the top 5 Ward 5 Recent Immigrant Populations by Country of Birth in 2006 were:
